Why This Is Good News!

Think about it. Jesus didn't die for you. This is good news. Think of all of the pressure that we put ourselves under trying to merit or repay such an act. How can we ever pay back a debt to someone who gave their lives in exchange for ours? This is heavy! How can we live up to such a sacrifice? If Jesus died for me, what does God expect from me?

The good news is Jesus died for the Father. To bring glory to Him. While you were on His mind on the cross - the glory of the Father was the purpose.

We need to shift our focus. Jesus' focus was on the glory of the Father. This is what kept Him going all the way to the cross. The message of the church is that "YOU" are the focus. "YOU are the reason He came. YOU are the reason He died. YOU are the reason He rose again."

Don't put so much importance on yourself. Don't think so highly of yourself. Jesus didn't come to glorify you, He came to glorify God. He came to glorify God by redeeming you. By restoring your broken relationship with the Creator.

So what should our response be? I think the answer is very simple: let us join in the work of Jesus in giving and bringing glory to the Father.

John 14:15 -

“If you love Me, keep My commandments."
