Who Then Can Be Saved?

This was the question that was posed to Jesus right after Jesus explained how difficult it was to obtain salvation. Jesus made the claim that it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. The disciples were dumbfounded and asked: "Who then can be saved?"

Jesus' response was simple: "With men it (salvation) is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

No man can save himself. The Bible says that no one is righteous. No one desires to follow God. It also says that it is the "Goodness of God that draws men unto repentance."

Many times I've heard people pray: "God, make their lives miserable until they turn to you." What if we prayed: "God overwhelm them with your loving kindness until they turn from their wicked ways and cry out for salvation. Pursue them with your goodness and lead them to repentance!"

No one is beyond God's reach. No one is impossible for God to save.

Matthew 29:23-26 -
23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
